Well, I don't have to tell you that it's been a while since I did ANYTHING to this little blog of mine. I figured that maybe it's time that I do.
A lot has happened since the last time I wrote a post… over a year an a half ago…
First: we got a second Northern Pup! We adore her, she’s the sweetest.
Next: we moved!
Not only did we get posted out of Petawawa way before we expected to, but we got posted HOME-ish. Back to the ocean side in rural Nova Scotia! I wasn’t super thrilled about it at first, I will admit, but I am pretty thankful to be back, closer to the ocean than ever before (just four minutes away!)
It took some time to get used to being back, and it took even longer to find some other homeschoolers that we all click with. I needed to start a whole new Homeschooling/Unschooling group in the area and, although we don’t have many friends, the ones we have made have been amazing for the kids and I and I couldn’t be more thankful.
It has also taken quite some time to get comfortable in our “new” home. I use the term “new” loosely as the archives tell us it was built in 1840 – 183 years ago! I definitely have a lot more patience and respect for the uneven floors and crooked walls now that I know how old it is.
It’s on a busy road and I can count more than twenty houses from my front porch… Anyone who knows me knows that I prefer to be unseen, but luckily the neighbors are super friendly and very respectful of our privacy. There aren’t really neighborhood kids around, so they also enjoy seeing ours outside playing a lot, I think. Or at least I like to think so.
We’ve fenced the yard for the dogs, got a pool for the kids, and are in the process of building a permanent shed/treehouse aka “The Fort” for them.
I’ve added plants and painted rooms and doors and decks. It’s a work in progress but it’s feeling more like home. And we love the area, the town, the scenery, the beaches and the trails and the community. It’s starting to fall into place.
Well, now that we’ve caught up a bit, I’ll try to get back to what this website is for:
