We have a pretty amazing spot about 40 minutes away called Bonnechere Caves. Thousands of years old, hundreds of feet under ground, and a special spot for hibernating bats, we took the kids for their first visit (my husband and I have been there before, a few years ago).

We learned about stalactites and stalagmites, how the force of water makes crevices in the rock walls.

We thought only First Born might be interested in the bats, but all three kids chatted about how awesome the entire day was and how much they learned the entire way home!

For more information on the caves, check out their website at http://www.bonnecherecaves.com/

They are closed for the season so as to not disturb the hibernating bats and to allow the water back inside for the winter, but they are worth the wait!
